Major League Soccer (MLS) has today released details for the inaugural eMLS Cup due to kick off at PAX East April 5-8 in Boston. The MLS’s premier gaming event has invited the top FIFA players in the world to represent 19 MLS clubs all vying for the eMLS Cup trophy.
Up for grabs among other prizes are spots in the EA SPORTS FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs along the coveted road to the FIFA eWorld Cup 2018.
The competing players will be divided into two conferences, with ten clubs to feature in the Eastern Conference and the remaining nine to battle it out in the Western Conference. Competitors will then select their squad of 11 starting players, seven bench players and five reserve players. Each team must have three MLS players on the field at all times, including two players from the Club that they represent.
The eMLS Cup will start with the preliminary rounds on taking place on Thursday, April 5th, and Friday, April 6th at eMLS HQ operating on the show floor at PAX East. Each competitor will play the others in their conference once, the top eight players from each conference will then go one to the seeded knockout rounds that start on Saturday, April 7th.
The Conference Championships and the big eMLS Cup Final will take place the next day, Sunday, April 8th. Both Saturday and Sunday’s matches will be held on the PAX Arena on the Main Stage and will be live-streamed on PAX’s “PAXArena” Twitch channel and on www.MLSsoccer.com
The eMLS Cup finalists will win their places in the FIFA 18 Global Series Playoffs on the Road to the FIFA eWorld Cup. The top 32 competitors in the Global Series Playoffs will then advance to the FIFA eWorld Cup in August, where the winner will be crowned the undisputed FIFA 18 World Champion and guaranteeing that no one will ever want to attend a Fifa lads night-in with them ever again.
